— LIFE AS A PINBALL MACHINE —

Last night during coffee with a good friend, it occurred to me how in life while one thing leads to another, sometimes one person also leads to another.

When I first moved to Jakarta, I got to know him (Boy A) online who happened to live live nearby and had just returned from studying in Sydney. We decided to meet up in person, and he quickly became the first friend in my new friends circle. What followed was man A introduced me to yet another overseas Boy B, whom six months later brought a visiting friend out (Girl C). Six months later after returning home Girl C introduced me to Girl D online, yet another passer-by in Jakarta.Pc2kihmyr0q

Surely people meet people through their friends, or friends’ friends. In my case, it took three individuals and a year to meet Girl D. Had either Boy A or I decided not to log online for chat that day, all the twists and turns, all the encounters during my time here would not have eventuated.

It got me thinking; we go through everyday like a pinball machine. Once the ball drops to one side of aspects, it’s almost impossible to shift to the other side – it may only try to shift as close as luck and gravity dictate. Well what can you do? As they say, live with it.

So after all, what did the Girl D experience entail? Boy A, B and Girl C have since become good friends, there hasn’t been any Boy or Girl E and the pinball has almost reached the bottom hole.

Maybe time for another go.

WELCOME BACK MR. BAUER!!!

Weeeeeeell….. Welcome back Mr. Jack Bauer!!!!!
wooooooooo hooooooooo….

As a fans of 24 series since the 1st Season, I’m freaking waiting for this season for about 20 months after last season’s shocking finale, when Jack Bauer was captured by Chinese government agents and taken, battered and bloodied, to points unknown. After a series of horrific terrorist attacks, USA President and his team of advisors, as well as Jack’s CTU colleagues, begin an unthinkable, nail-biting day.

24, it may not always make sense and people tend to heal fast in a 24 hours period, but it always keeps you guessing and excited. This season looks like it will deliver. The Non-Stop New Season of 24 picks up 20 months after the Chinese kidnap Jack Bauer! Without ruining a thing I beg you all to show this episode. It’s best TV show on Television. Each week I sit on the edge of my seat like nervous belly stunned and shocked with what the writers come up with next (Great works… Mr. Sutherland…!!!). This 6 four hours season premier lives up to its expectations!! You will poop yourself during the last minutes of episode 4 just like I did!!!

Hwaaaaaaaah… CAN’T HARDLY WAIT FOR THE NEXT 20 HOURS!!!!!!

PS: as Macintosh user, I think Jack and CTU should ditch their smart-phones and use iPhone. Why? It has the most secured OS installed and it’s built by a company that’s more secretive than the CIA… huehehehehehehe… =P

An Inconvenient Truth

Truth
Yes, I saw the movie. Did I like it? Yes… I liked it. Did I love it? Not so much. I think it’s because for me, Gore was preaching to the converted. A lot of it I had heard and seen before. The evidence isn’t new for those of us already in the thick of it. I’m a lawyer, not an atmospheric scientist. I’m just interested in science and lends to scientific study. The movie was powerful because it SHOWED people what is happening while keeping the actual science jargon to a minimum. I think that aspect of it was amazing. What I felt the movie lacked was direction. Okay Gore…yeah…there’s all these problems; now suggest to me what the hell I’m supposed to do. Turning off a few lights is not the answer. When the movie finished I found myself kinda feeling like, "hmmm… interesting and amazing… so what are some ‘action items’ I can take away from that film". The movie could have provided a platform for change rather than a mechanism of promoting fear (but …on a positive note… awareness is there).

I’m happy I saw it and I do think it is something that everyone should see. It does make you think. But how many people have already watched this movie…and two weeks later have forgotten about it? Action and long-term messaging… it was missing it, who’s going to pick up the slack?

PS : I still looking for these Al Gore’s book. Can anyone help me find those book here???

shout outs to the single-ers

I have several single friends out there that read this blog religiously and I wanted to direct you to a few STC quotes that were shared with me more than 2 years ago (gasp!) when I got myself out of something:

1) Relationships have been on the decline ever since women came out of the cave, looked around and said, "this isn’t so bad."

2) No matter who broke your heart, or how long it takes to heal, you’ll never get through it without your friends.

3) Maybe some women aren’t meant to be tamed. Maybe they’re supposed to run wild until they find someone — just as wild — to run with.

Bottom line: Whatever quote works for you… or doesn’t… you aren’t defined by your intimate relationships. Finding yourself after 2 years, 4 years, 7 years together can be daunting…but it’s also fun. Having good girlfriends in the mix doesn’t hurt either.

Best solutions: Go dancing with your girlfriends and/or have dinner parties with loads of wine and friendly faces. Rebound boys/girls aren’t so bad either.

Sorry kalo agak sedikit basi.. hihihihi..
Gara-gara bantuin acara nikahan one of a good friend seharian tadi, the questions about being a single lil bit disturbing my mind up till now!!!….
Hwuaaaaah… capek deeeeeh!

For Conny and Budi, happy marriage yaaaaa… may u both live happily ever after…

o·ver·in·dulge (vr-n-dlj)

v. o·ver·in·dulged, o·ver·in·dulg·ing, o·ver·in·dulg·es
1. To indulge (a desire, craving, or habit) to excess: overindulging a fondness for chocolate.
2. To indulge (a person) excessively: overindulges his children.
To indulge in something to excess.

I
think I over-indulged many times over this weekend. Company, visitors,
music, eating dinners out, walks for breakfasts and staying up way too
late. I’m paying for it today. Its only noonish and I’m tired and ready
for a nap. I’m learning to do what I want, when I want, and indulge in
what I wish. It’s tough sometimes being yourself out in the open and
letting people see you let your hair down, but I’m starting to just
feels right for me….and worrying less about everyone else. Thanks to
all who participated in this weekends events.
